Zilker Metropolitan Park, with its over 350 acres of playscapes, fields and woodlands, and its proximity to the hike and bike trail around Lady Bird Lake, is a popular weekend destination for picnics, live events, and play. The land, donated by namesake Andrew Jackson Zilker, was developed during the 1930s and has been well used by the Austin community since.

The park’s beautiful location, at the intersection of Barton Creek and the Colorado River, has made it a sought-after retreat for those seeking some nature in the middle of urban Austin. Due to its large size, it is a popular place for concerts and festivals like the Zilker Park Kite Festival and annual Austin City Limits Musical Festival.

In addition to the vast lawn space, Zilker Park offers several public attractions. Attractions range from the Zilker Botanical Garden and Austin Nature & Science Center, to Barton Springs Pool and the Umlauf Sculpture Garden, to the Zilker Hillside Theater. There’s something for just about everyone in this expansive greenscape.
